What is a PEP Transfer?
A PEP transfer allows you to transfer your PEP from the funds of one PEP Plan Manager to those of another without losing the PEPs tax benefits.
Gains and income that occur within PEP funds will remain tax-free.
The PEP transfer must transfer all of the PEP funds. Not so doing will mean that the tax benefits will be lost for good.
Switching the proceeds of your PEP fund to an ISA would use up all or part of your ISA allowance for that year.
You can make any number of PEP transfers.
Why PEP Transfer?
Your PEP performance may be unsatisfactory (e.g. it may be under-performing its sector).
Your attitude to risk may have changed since you started your PEP. A PEP transfer will enable you to adjust to suit your needsĀ· A need for income rather than growth from your PEP or vice versa is often a driver for a PEP transfer to meet your new requirements.
Change the sector(s) in which the PEP is invested through a PEP transfer to enable you to benefit from changing market conditionsĀ· A PEP transfer will enable you to merge a Single Company PEP with a general PEP fund in order to spread your investment risk.
A PEP transfer will enable to split your PEP between investment managers if you so choose.
You may wish to amalgamate several PEPs into one account whilst maintaining the original fund to simplify paperwork.
A PEP transfer could provide an opportunity to reduce ongoing charges.
